Do you trust your coach?
Over the last 30 years I have played, coached and taught on some awesome teams. Football, Basketball, Baseball, MVP and even Family. The teams that were the most successful had several things in common, but one thing stood out the most. Trust. Without trust things just don't work. No matter how much you try, if the trust between two individuals or groups are broken your chances of success are diminished. Sometimes impossible.
This is where the 4 Way Test comes in. This can be applied in many situations. It can be applied in your Sports, jobs and even in your family life. For this situation, I'm going to use a player to coach relationship.
Answer the following questions:
1. Do You Trust Your Coach?
2. Does Your Coach Trust You?
3. Do You Trust Your Teammates?
4. Do Your Teammates Trust You?
If you can answer Yes to the above questions then you are well on your way. If you answer No to any of the above questions, then you need to address them immediately. Communication takes care of almost all disagreements. Unfortunately, once trust is broken it takes a lot to rebuild it. My suggestion to you is to get things off your chest. If you have a problem with someone, go and talk with them. Keeping things inside will not solve the problem. Once the problem is addressed you can work on rebuilding the trust.
